Hey Ya'll,
Well for a number of years there's been this program through I believe it's the AFB called career connect, where you can sign up, and talk to other professionals in the field--or that were in the same field as your going into.. has anyone ever used this, and has it been helpful? What were/are your experiences if you have used it. I signed up, and I was thinking of giving this a go, but just wondered who here used/uses this, and what your experiences were/are. Thanks.
I am considering being a mentor or whatever they called it... so hopefully I can assist others!

oh that's awesome! Has anyone used this and got/spoke with a mentore? If so, were they helpful to you?
I signed up a long time ago as a mentor and did get a few calls from people wanting to know about my experiences and advice about jobs. I am still on their list, but as I no longer work due to health issues I haven't gotten any calls for a long time even though I was told by someone from AFB that even though I don't work anymore I might still be able to help people.

I think the program is great in theory, but I have to wonder how many people actually get any use of it after they have signed up.
I signed up years ago, first as someone looking for a mentor, but didn't find anyone to talk to. Then when I was working, I signed up to be a mentor, but never got any contacts from people wanting to talk. I think it's like becky said, great idea, but not actually used by most people.
hmmm, interesting.. I remember signing up for it years ago, too, but never used it.. but I just recently signed up, and haven't really looked into it much lol. interesting.
